What started in 1941 as civilian pilots flying coastal patrols during World War II has grown into something much bigger. The Civil Air Patrol continues to serve today as the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, leading search and rescue missions, developing future leaders, and advancing aerospace education. Over 80 years later, that same commitment to service still lives on.
